Samir Duratovic was born in the city of Marl in North Rhine-Westphalia. After his parents had to flee from their homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina to Germany as a persecuted minority. Samir grew up and went to school in the Ruhr area, in 2016 he started his studies in Fashion and Communication Design at the Design Department Düsseldorf and graduated in 2020.

In his work as an artist, he works across disciplines, exploring stories of feelings of alienation. He is fascinated by his own generation; a generation struggling with hypersensitivity to technology.
